Possible to use Hangouts or Phone's native dialer?

Post by whitecalvus »

Is is possible to use the phone dialer as the main dialer instead of Fongo? Saw that we could add a SIP account.
Also, possible to use Hangouts for texting instead of the Fongo app?

Sure, you can use whatever dialer you want. You have to set the preference though, same with the texting.

Does using the fongo app save some battery? I heard setting up sip settings on the native dialer can cost more battery.

Hi,
Could you please more specific, how do you set up the main dialer of the phone when you want to use Fongo to call?
Thanks

You can only use the Fongo Mobile app to make/receive calls or SMS with your Fongo number, you cannot use the main dialler for Fongo calls and you cannot use Hangouts for Fongo texting.

This seems correct to me too, infact the response from Bridonca was very strange, as the Fongo app is the only way to generate some income for Fongo and would not be fair to bypass that. I wish members here would feel more responsible when responding.

Where did that come from? I do not work for Fongo, and I have no agenda to promote one service over another. Out of respect, I do not go out of my way promoting one service over Fongo on this board, but if someone asks a question I think I know the answer to, I will answer it. I promise you Fongo will survive if I am not heavily promoting it. Though the Fongo client is very handy for some things, it is heavily flawed in other purposes. That is why it is nice to have a choice of clients.
