Online purchases and account balance!

Post by FONGO_steve »

As of early this morning, our secure online purchase page has now been launched. This will allow the purchasing of long distance vouchers and configuration files online.

This page can be accessed by clicking the "purchase" button for any of the above items on our "Optional Services" page.

We will continue to bring new and exciting items to the online purchase page in the coming months to further simply your orders from us.

Additionally, you can also view your account balance once logged into freephoneline.ca and view the cost of each long distance call in your call legs. This will help in better seeing when your vouchers are getting low so you know to top them up!

Please don't hesitate to let us know if there are any questions!

Thanks for adding ld options to fpl.

But
1. Calling iNum with fpl is $6.18/min ?? Other similar voip providers have this feature implemented for free, and they assign you an iNum number for free too.
I am not commenting on fpl's business model but Isn't iNum supposed to be 'the real universal link' between/to the voip providers?

2. Not sure if this is a typo but 10c/min for calling 4021 Bucharest Romania (Bucharest is the capital city of Romania and the main communications hub) seems a bit too high especially compared to 2c for calling 4024 Romania which is calling some provincial areas within the same country.
Calling 4021 should be same 2c at most if not lower than, but not higher than that. If that is a typo then please fix so I can give proper consideration to fpl's ld rates for my ld needs.

thanks.

Let me look into #2 for you with our business team.

#1 - we don't support iNum at present time, I'm not sure where you saw references to it?

Bucharest is a very expensive place to terminate to and 10C/min is correct. Most other carriers range from 7C-49C/min to this region. I have put in a tip to see if we can find reliable carrier that would be a couple cents lower, but we also don't want to sacrifice reliability for cost. It's easier to have all calls to this region work at 10C/min than have 50% fail on a cheaper carrier at a lower cost.

8835100 is iNum. I have two iNum numbers, one with localphone and one with voxalot. they both start with 8835100 and work free in/out with iNum supporting providers.
and here's the reference/fpl rate link: http://www.freephoneline.ca/completeLis ... TL+NETWORK

Romtelecom is your provider for 4024, same should go for 4021 Bucharest. 402* is owned by Rometelecom so if you got 2c with 4024 then you should get same 2c or lower with 4021.
From my experience, Bucharest is not that expensive ranging from 0.5-3c/min with most voip carriers, and is definitely cheaper than Sofia Bulgaria with any other provider in the world.

it may be easier to have all calls at 10c/min for that region but then you will not really need any termination agreements cause nobody will use fpl to call that region. :(

I have no interest in calling Romania but, e.g. 12voip, charges 2c for ANY landline in Romania and 6c for cell.

thanks zombie999 for your suggestion.
I am already using various providers for my overseas calling needs. I just hope for a fair price from fpl to consolidate all those into one.

We will look into this in future, but right now credit card payment integrates easily with all of our accounting systems. Unfortunately the systems don't offer the same support for paypal just yet!

ok, so what about calling a canadian number not covered by the free service, will we get a notice that this call is not free as in Bell we have to add 1 or we get a message that this call is a long distance call ?

another question, can we use the credit in the followme, i.e followme to a non-free region or international ?

If you call an area not included for free, it will say that you have insufficient funds then the call will disconnect. In this case, you know you'd need a voucher to call that area.

At present time you'd have to check the number you wish to call on our long distance calling rates page as we don't have a way to notify of charges in-call yet.

Short answer is: No, you won't be alerted for as long as there is a balance in your account. (Hmmm, that was not short, was it?)

And for US calls? do we have to dial 1 or 011 before the area code, or just like dialing canadian numbers ?

Canada and US are together in the same country code: 1. Dialing 1 goes everywhere in canada and the US.

011 is the code to dial outside of our country code.

Hi Steve,
I bought a voucher online (to see how it works :) ), I didn't test it yet, but it looks fine in my profile details, so the only small problem is - when I received a message it was still mentioning old ( 0 ) balance for the number:
On 2010-10-02 a payment of 5.00 CAD was posted to your account.

Your current balance is 0.00 CAD.
