[RESOLVED] No Ringing Tone, and FPL phone hears nothing

Post by vq1 »

I have tried registering my FPL VOIP ATA (Linksys PAP2T) on all three of these servers:

- voip.freephoneline.ca
- voip2.freephoneline.ca
- voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060

I am fairly technical ... I had this working inside one household, and I moved the ATA to another home, and on a different model router, and all of a sudden, the FPL phone does not hear any ringing when dialing a number ... the called number still rings, and can answer, and the person on the FPL can talk and be heard by the other party, but the FPL phone will never hear anything spoken, nor DTMF digits that were dialed.

I have opened Support Ticket #107404 about this, and not sure what could be the problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Be sure your device is configured as per the official guide at http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=16294 including the three settings in my post below the official guide. If that doesn't work, you'll just have to wait for the staff to solve your problem.

Mango, thank you!!

I TOTALLY missed this part of the post:

To prevent one-way or no audio with the new FPL switches, set the following on the SIP tab:

Handle VIA received: yes
Handle VIA rport: yes
Substitute VIA Addr: yes

This completely solved my problem, INSTANTLY.

Thank you!!!

P.S.: Can we add this content to the .PDF file as a "Troubleshooting" section?

I'd rather see the problem fixed properly on the FPL side. My suggestion is a workaround to compensate for FPL's misconfigured switches which, by default, do not handle devices behind NAT properly. Despite the tons of complaints here in the forum, and the fact that voip3 works properly, the FPL staff steadfastly refuse to consider the possibility that there an issue they need to fix.

I'm glad your service is working now.
