Re: keep my phone number
If anyone, from anywhere, calls your Fongo number, you never have pay any fee. The other caller might have to pay their carrier long distance charges to call your Fongo number, but that depends on the area they are calling from, and the calling plan they have. But you pay no fees with incoming calls.
If Fongo does not support your calling area phone number, there is not much they can do with it. You can always get another number from an area Fongo supports, but it is going to likely be a long distance charge for local people to call, depending on the area, and their calling plan. There is no way to port a number from an area Fongo does not support to Fongo.

Re: keep my phone number
This is where Fongo can provide numbers for http://support.fongo.com/entries/232117 ... e-numbers-
This is a list of the areas that can be called for free www.fongo.com/calling/free/
I understand that your number is not covered on those lists, but maybe another one may be of use. As noted above, YOU will not be charged for any incoming call. The calling party may be charged however as these are to be treated as normal traditional phone numbers, so if calling that area code would normally incur a long distance charge for them then it will when they call you Fongo number.
