Voip not working with Cogeco TIVO

I just got Cogeco TIVO installed yesterday with Arris TG2472 router. However, the router is also the modem for the internet, TV and phone. I have done the portforwarding.5060 UDP in the router, When someone calls me it goes right to voicemail. I have no dial tone on my phone, so cannot receive calls. Cogeco does not provide support for 3rd party voip. TIVO is quite new. Phone was working perfectly before TIVO. Have reset all devices. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Please login into your Grandstream 286 ATA and perform the following changes:

SIP server field:

a) delete voip.freephoneline.ca
b) replace it with voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060

Scroll down and click on update and reboot device.

let us know if there's any improvement.

Thanks so much for your response. I have never logged in to my ATA. How do you do that? As when I try to get the IP address from my phone I get an error message, so I don't know my Ip address for my phone. Also the ATA is plugged into the Arris modem so when I use http://192.168.0.1, it logs into the Arris modem, not the ATA.

Hi,

Please follow the instructions below:

1. Pick up the phone plugged into the FPL phone adapter
2. Dial ***, #, 02, and write down the IP Address it reads (usually 192.168.xxx.xxx)
3. Hang up the phone
4. Open a web browser (eg. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome), type the IP Address in the address bar at the top of your screen and press Enter
5. In the Password field, type: admin
6. Click the Login button
7. Click the Advanced settings 1 on the the menu bar
8. Find Primary SIP server Field and change from voip.freephoneline.ca to voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060
9. Click on update
10. Adapter will now reboot

I just edited my response above as you were responding. I did dial *** and I get E and some numbers over and over again. No IP address, The first time I did it I got 0000.0000.0000.0000, but now just the E and a bunch of numbers.

Hi,

If you get IP address 0.0.0.0 it means that device is no longer connected to the Internet.

This is caused by a bad network cable or sometimes for a router that is not assigning IP address.

If you hear error E103, please try dialing ***# and then enter option 02.

I would think you have a bad network cable, but can be your router as well.

I tried putting in **** and then 02 and with the 4 ****'s I got an IP address. 192.168.000.003. I tested my network cables by logging into the Arris device and they had no problem. I tried logging into the IP address for the phone and it timed out. Then I read that the 0's need to be eliminated, so I tried 192.168.0.3 and that timed out as well. My brother also has an ATA and he believes that there is something in the Arris that is blocking the ATA due to the fact that the Arris is not only the router, but the modem as well. Before I had the Cogeco modem that I connected to my own Dlink router and connected the ATA to the router. Now I have to connect the ATA to the Arris device and that seems to be what is causing the problem. I tried hooking up my router to the Arris, but it just acts as an extender to the Arris, so cannot login from there. This situation doesn't make any sense to me, but Cogeco will not help.

Hi,

The PC from where you try to access 192.168.0.3 needs to be connected with wire to the same device where ATA is connected.

My guess is that your PC has IP address 192.168.1.x and ata has 192.168.0.x

My computer was connected with wire to the same device as the ATA. The Arris is 192.168.0.1 and the ATA is 192.168.0.3 and I am unable to login to the ATA, but can login to the Arris

I am not able to access it. It would be great if you were to read all of the posts above. I have tried everything that I can think of. It seems to be something to do with the Cogeco Arris device blocking access to my ATA. Was hoping you could figure a way around it.
