If FreePhoneLine could forward SMS that would be EXCELLENT.
So it would also use FollowMe to forward any sms.
If I could give my friends ONE number which they could use in their mobile, they could text me and phone me using that number. Instead of calling me in one area code, and texting me in another.
I would pay for that service.

SMS relay is... costly. Currently if we went with a third party it would be limited as to how much we could send while staying inside our margin. Developing our own SMS gateway / relay would be quite time consuming and as of now I see now plans to do it.
I have however passed this on to our development team for something that would be good to look into for the future!

Frankly, SMS is a dying technology. It was built as a hack over GSM networks and is specific to the cellphone system, and then hacked a bit more to extend from that.
Instant-emails and/or instant-messaging systems will overtake SMS/MMS's popularity. Mark my words for claim chowder, but in about 5 years from now, texting packages on cellphones won't be a selling point anymore.

Well I'm not sure how Line2 accomplishes it, but they have SMS features (with Canada being supported in the new year). It would be awesome to have an iPhone app for Freephoneline.
