I have uninstalled softphone and java, followed by a registry cleaner. I then reinstalled freephone and java. The application starts up and shows server connection. Keypad input creates sound and entry. Upon connect the timer connection runs, but there is no sound. I called my land based line, but it did not ring.
I installed the bud softphone and essentially have the same results.
Softphone works fine on my xp laptop and workstation. I have also used the windows 7 compatibility options without success.
I see in the forums that a user has reported this issue, but I don't see a resolution. I would appreciate an update on this issue.

Re: Windows 7 softphone issues
Resolved! windows 7 does not unblock ports outbound even though the program is in the list of firewall exceptions. Seems it allows allows inbound port traffic.
So you need to explicitly declare that outbound port(s) are an exception and are to be allowed.

Interesting behavior, thanks for sharing!
I'd be curious about what would happen if you were to start the softphone with Administrator rights.
