I haven't been able to configure a working "message waiting indicator" with my ATA so I decided to use my phone's built-in digital voicemail system as a remedy. The problem I am having now is that the my phone's voicemail is not recognizing when the person who is leaving the voicemail has hung up and continues to record a phone tone similar to the one heard when a phone is off hook for a very long time. I am sure there is a telnet setting that will correct this. But which one???
Help would be appreciated.

My answering machine does this too. I'm using an SPA3102. I'm sure it's something to do with the hangup tones. I haven't had a chance to look into it further. I'm interested into seeing where this thread goes. So far, it's an annoyance. I'm living with it, but it's annoying.qwerty wrote:I haven't been able to configure a working "message waiting indicator" with my ATA so I decided to use my phone's built-in digital voicemail system as a remedy. Make sure your load number is not too high for your ATA. Phone lines, be it from Bell or from an ATA device, can manage up to X phones in capacity. Certain devices can consume more than others. If you have a few phones and an answering machine, you might be nearing the capacity of the ATA. Try to unplug a few, see if it helps.

For me, I have 1 cordless base, 1 regular telephone.laurent wrote:Make sure your load number is not too high for your ATA. ATA connected to house wiring, split off to the cordless base. Regular phone in the kitchen on a different floor. No other devices. Even when the kitchen phone is not plugged in, it still happens.
