Hi,
I'm getting an issue where I am getting a "... is not available, please leave a message" with inbound calls but I have no issues with outbound calls.
This started happening on Sept 29 so not sure if it's related to the 911 fee as I never made changes to my ATA.
I just logged into my account and noticed that it had an old email address that I no longer use so I never got any notices about the fee. I thought I would post here first before starting a new thread if it's related to the 911 fee.
My account shows that it is Registered and in the Call Logs, I noticed that I am getting some entries showing "User Busy" as the Disconnect Reason.
Below are my SIP settings:
SIP Status: connected
SIP User Agent: Linksys/PAP2T-5.1.6(LS)
Inbound/Outbound Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca
Local SIP Port: RANDOM
Local RTP Port: RANDOM
Registration Expires: 3600
Enabled Codecs: G711u/PCMU and G729a ONLY
Use Preferred Codec: G711u/PCMU or G729a
Use Preferred Codec Only: No
RTP Packet Size: 0.020
Ring Tone Frequency: 52
Ring Tone Voltage: 90
Can anyone confirm if they encountered this issue and their service works after paying for the 911 fee? Would hate to make a payment only to find out my ATA no longer works on their network.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: PAP2T incoming calls going straight to voicemail
Click viewtopic.php?t=20532, and follow the steps, step by step down the list. Since you're using a Rogers gateway and your own Asus router, you can skip steps 1, 5, and 11. Go through the each step otherwise, down the list, and you should do step 28 using Merlin firmware.fpl_user2012 wrote: 10/02/2024

Also, for reference, your configuration guide is located at viewtopic.php?t=16294.
While this is not related to your current issues, for Asus router users following the steps below, first login to your router’s web UI.
Navigate to Advanced Settings–>Administration–>System (tab)–>Basic Config–>
Change “Enable WAN down browser redirect notice” to "No".
Click “Apply”. That fixes potential problems with an ATA attempting to register with 10.0.0.1
when it's booted before the ISP's modem is fully up and running first (after a power outage, for example).
For step 2, visit https://www.rogers.com/support/internet ... your-modem. Ensure your Rogers gateway is in bridge mode since your ATA should be plugged into your Asus RT-AX86U router.
For steps 3 and 28, I suggest switching to Asuswrt-Merlin firmware: https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net
However, I will not be held responsible for failed firmware updates.
For step 3, login into your RT-AX86U. Navigate to Advanced Settings-->WAN-->NAT Passthrough, and disable SIP Passthrough. Click "Apply".
It's not, so I separated your post into its own thread. This started happening on Sept 29 so not sure if it's related to the 911 fee
Okay, your ATA is registered. I hope that's not a fake PAP2T: http://genuinelinksys.blogspot.com/2011 ... nuine.html

Those are just suggested settings and pretty meaningless. Everyone sees the same thing after logging in: visit viewtopic.php?t=20549Inbound/Outbound Proxy: voip.freephoneline.ca
Local SIP Port: RANDOM
Local RTP Port: RANDOM
Registration Expires: 3600
Enabled Codecs: G711u/PCMU and G729a ONLY

I would not use voip.freephoneline.ca while troubleshooting. Use voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 instead.
It's unrelated. Outbound calls wouldn't work. Can anyone confirm if they encountered this issue and their service works after paying for the 911 fee?
If you haven't read the 911 FAQ, you can do so here: https://www.fongo.com/freephoneline-911 ... rvice-fee/. I suggest reading the answer to each question.

Re: PAP2T incoming calls going straight to voicemail
Thanks for the great write up, Liptonbrisk.
The issue was the DND setting under User tab was set to YES. Once I changed it to NO, everything started working again. Not sure how that was turned on.
Thank you again!

That's step 10 from viewtopic.php?t=20532.fpl_user2012 wrote: 10/04/2024

You or someone in your household may have accidentally dialed *78.Not sure how that was turned on.
Dialing *79 disables DND (do not disturb).
I'm glad the problem is fixed. Thanks for reporting back.
