Can you use your ATA with whistle instead of the softphone? When you right click on the softphone you get a configuration menu that has a proxy, your phone number then you also have a password. Are those enough to configure on a ATA?

I use this in my FS setting and it works fine
<include>
<gateway name="whistle.com">
<param name="proxy" value="proxy.whistlephone.com"/>
<param name="username" value="9703XXXXXX"/>
<param name="password" value="XXXXXXXX"/>
<param name="register" value="true"/>
<param name="user-agent-string" value="3CXPhone 4.0.10858.0"/>
</gateway>
</include>
The XXXXX needs to be replaced with your details. And I don't think I needed to spoof the user agent, but the profile was copied from another profile and I just left it there. I have not paid for anything, so if you have an account it should all work fine.

Thank you Jake. I managed to find how to do it and it was easy enough on my 2Wire modem/router with voice box.

Sure your post will help many.

You need a Google Voice account that forwards to WhistlePhone. You will want to configure Whistle Phone in your ATA.

Google voice is not available in Canada. You'll have to figure out how to get it.
WhistlePhone calls are now limited to 20 minutes per call.

No more free calls. They backed out on the 20 min for free deal effective April 1. Looking for another option.
