Reading the comments at dslreports.com, it looks like voip.ms is the king of VoIP, customer service is good, features are good, call quality is good etc.. Has any FPL user here actually used both services? Your opinion would be much appreciated.
I have been using FPL for just over a month, so far I found it acceptable for the money. But sometimes, when I call someone, the other party could not hear me clearly and I had to ask him to call me instead and the problem solved. Don't know the reason behind that.
If voip.ms is almost as good as landline, I might switch to them.

Re: FPL vs. voip.ms
I have a voip.ms account, and I do not have any real complaints. But because it is still SIP VOIP, it will never be as good as a land line.Amowagou wrote:Reading the comments at dslreports.com, it looks like voip.ms is the king of VoIP, customer service is good, features are good, call quality is good etc.. I have played with quite a few VOIP providers, and discovered that your VOIP is only as good as your Internet connection, and usually the people selling you your Internet connection has a conflict of interest when it comes to providing decent, VOIP quality Internet. Your router probably sucks also!

Re: FPL vs. voip.ms
I use FPL for local and voip.ms (IAX not SIP through an Asterisk server) and I have no complaints with their call quality. I also have 2 did's with them and they work great too.

Re: FPL vs. voip.ms
I have been using VoIP.ms for my business lines since 2009 and I have to say, you do get what you pay for. I also use FPL at home for our only home telephone and have done so since about the same time.
Don't get me wrong, VoIP.ms provides reasonable service for the prices they charge (I make use of mostly toll-free numbers, but also have a London, England number and a local Toronto number for call-back purposes) but in the past 4-6 months, the service provided (both VoIP service and technical support) has been on the decline. In the last month alone, I have had three solid days without my toll-free numbers (the main business numbers) working and doing a lot a strange things (ringing busy, dead silence, telling my customer the number is not in service, etc) and the technical support has very little to offer for support and never bother to tell mpe when the problem has finally been resolved!
Unfortunately, in the past I recommended them to some customers and am now beginning to worry about how that might look. I believe the problem lies with their Canadian carrier, but if the problem is this large (and getting worse) should they not look for an alternate? With there low prices, I'd be happy to pay twice as much if they could provide consistent service. Also, so you are aware, all my VoIP.ms settings are set for Premium routing, not Value, so I am paying more than the average user.
I have been looking for another provider but have to admit that it is hard to find a company will to port my numbers and have a rate that is reasonably close, while providing a service guarantee. So, in the end I will stay with VoIP.ms unless e service outages become so bad that I have no option but to ditch them entirely.
Also, I do like their implementation of Asterisk and use a lot of the features (IVR, DISA, callback, Ring Groups) and would definitely want a new service provider to provide at least what VoIP.ms has implemented.
If you have any questions, by all means let me know!
