Post by momothemonkey »

My english is not very good but i'll try my best to translate

Merci

in english: I don't have any problem to call people with my phone but people can't call my number ! When people call me they heard a sound like a sending fax or a old modem.. something like that and from my side i don't receive any call. So what is this problem and how can i solve it ? is pretty sad because my friends and family can't call me back at my new number.

Maybe the call is being forwarded to voicemail. Are you using the free softphone from Freephoneline?
Otherwise you can try using a STUN server. Can you tell us more about what you are using: network/router, telephone/ATA, etc.

i don't have a router and for the modem i don't really know.. i'm not an expert at this thing.. only connect my internet cable to a black box with green light and connect the box to my pci ethernet card

this : Intel(R) 82567LF-2 Gigabit Network Connection ?

anyway a free phone to use with my computer is something very hard to use correctly for someone 'newbie' like myself.. that just bad cuz i don't know why they heard that sound when they call me

I will tell you why you are having your problem, and why there is not much Freephoneline can do for you right now. Most home computers do not have a direct connection to the internet. These computers are connected to a router, which allow multiple computers to share that same internet connection. This is a called NAT transversal. For the most part, it all works out. But some applications, like the Freephoneline client, which uses a SIP protocol, need special consideration. Because sometimes, the router does not know where to route the SIP traffic. That is why you have your problem.

I know the staff have be talking about a newer client that will do NAT transversal much better. There is no ETA when that will happen though. If you had access to the router, you could forward the needed ports to the computer that is using freephoneline, but that only assumes you know what you are doing, and have a good router. I wish I could be of more help.

well like i said i don't have any router ! cuz if i would have one i could connect my 2 computer to the same internet connection but that not the case. 1 modem , 1 cable , 1 computer who work online. I have a direct connection so that why i don't understand but.. that seem ok people can call me now but my voicemail start at the first ringer.. that a problem too but i'll work on my option to change it..

at least thank you :)
