Hi!
I have just installed my new phone line at home with a new ATA Linksys SPA2102.
I have tested my alarm system and the company didn't receive any signal of the alarm.
They told me it's because i am using VoIP.
My company is Protectron.
Does anyone has any solution for that?
Thank you in advance
Delcio

Re: Alarm Systems
You'll want to contact the alarm company - they usually have special filters that will be required to go between your VOIP adapter and their system.

Re: Alarm Systems
Delcio, I use to have a Protectron alarm system and ended up connecting my existing alarm to this company: http://nextalarm.com . They will retro fit partically any alarm system to work over the internet. And most of all ...service is cheaper and works great . Hope this helps ....delcio wrote:Hi!

Interesting site though it seems they're based out of the US. Can you tell us more about them? For example - what do you mean by "retrofit"? Do you purchase hardware from them, services, or do they simply convert your existing alarm to be VoIP-friendly with the current alarm provider? (Doubtful, but I don't understand how they operate.)

Re: Alarm Systems
Well they will sell you a device that will convert the telephone signals of your alarm system so that it conects over the internet to their central. The additional hardware will cost you about 100$ but they will give you 5 month of free monitoring with your signup. They monitor both US and CDN homes. Hope this helps.

Re: Alarm Systems
That's great, thanks... so from what I understand then - you are required to use their service and can't use a local alarm provider?
