I coincidentally own both that phone and that router, and I never had that issue. The only thing I can recommend is that you do a hard reset on the router, and put it back to it's defaults. Power down the modem and the phone also. Then turn on the modem, wait 20 seconds, then turn on the router, wait another 30 seconds, and then turn on the phone. I would then configure the router to forward port 5061 and port 10010 to the IP the wifi sip phone is at. You should also configure the router so that the phone will always use that IP I wish I could remember the term.

I found the problem.... the thing you suggested is too hard you have no idea what address you radomly get.... So I went to WAN Setup and turned off nat filtering now on open and now its working. I will test and see how it is. now i turned the firewall back on hope it works if not I turn it back off.

I have changed the title of this topic as it is now in all appearances a working device configuration; please read the forum rules when posting, this section is only for working device configurations to be shared with others.

The reason for that is the router releases the ports that forward to the UTStarcom F1000 after about 2 minutes. The registration duration setting on your phone is supposed to keep the connection alive, but some routers are clueless on dealing with it. See what happens when you set the registration duration to 119 seconds instead of 20 seconds. That might or might not work for you.

A more reliable fix would be to forward ports directly to the phone IP, and to make sure the router assigns the same IP to the phone, configure the router assign the same IP by phone's MAC address.

I have mixed emotions with the wpn824v3. The firmware did not impress, but it was a $20 router, and it works as an awesome repeater! The whole house now has good coverage because of the main DD-WRT router, and the wpn824v3 routers acting as satellites to the DD-WRT router. The DD-WRT router does all the work!

Well yes its a $20 router but when something starts to give me problems like this I get rid of it..... I think I see whats new and cheap try it out for a few days see it is any good....
I don't even think I try your idea renew time..... I should not need too.... The idea is for it to be reliable why go thur all the trouble.

If you do decide to get another router, make sure you get once that can accept DD-WRT firmware. Unlike the Netgear firmware, DD-WRT firmware is actually supported. And it works. They figured out this NAT forwarding SIP problem 5 years ago. There are new routers that still haven't figured it out.

Your wpn824v3 is not broken, it's firmware is crap. And since Netgear will no longer support it, nor can you put other firmware on it, it will always have limits. As I said, I have had great problem free issues with it as a repeater. It is just had issues guessing where the ports go. Which it does not have to do when it is a repeater.

I got Belkin N F5D8236-4 on sale at ncix $24 ..... I just turned the firewall off completely..... I think odd of a attack are low given isp's have firewalls too... The day that happens is the day I set up static ip but then I think I have other problems if that happens. But I don't think router is much of a firewall anyways.

You just made me cry! Belkin makes the most SIP hostile routers on the planet. Their support is even worse. You will not be happy.

You are not going to buy yourself out of this problem. It is the SIP protocol over NAT devices is what is broken. Every router and every SIP device has potential in having this problem because there is too much uncertainty and that is why people have flaky gear. I already told you what you need to do to remove that uncertainty. If you do buy new gear, it might work, but the uncertainty still exists.

As for the firewall, I assume you are talking about the Windows firewall? If that is the case, if it is on or off, it makes no real difference in this setup. All NAT routers are already natural firewalls. If I am behind a router, I disable the windows firewall, because it is worse than useless.
