voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
I am getting the fast dial tone that indicates that I have a new voice mail message and makes the new voice mail light on my phone flash. However, my voice mailbox is empty, both when I check online and with *98. This was not happening before, but started a couple of days ago when I got a voice mail message and deleted it.

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
funny you should have this problem. I just solved this today myself.
heres what I did:
I guess my ata got stuck and the "message waiting" setting was set to "yes" on the ata under the user setting even after I had listened to and deleted my voice mails. By changing that setting to "no" cleared the problem.
On LinkSys/Sipura adapters, "VMWI Refresh Intvl:" of zero means to never "refresh" the signal to your phones. i.e. send the signal from the adapter (to your phones) when the state changes (in the adapter), and hope your phones get the signal that first time. But if (for any reason) the phones miss that command, your phones will be "stuck" in the wrong state until the adapter state again changes.
For any non-zero value of "VMWI Refresh Intvl:", LinkSys/Sipura adapters will send the current state of the VM to your phones every X seconds. Set it to whatever you like (I have mine set to 300). By setting a non-zero value, the phones in your house never risk getting their VM light "stuck" in the wrong state, as the adapter will "refresh" the state info every X seconds.
However, if/when you use a non-zero "VMWI Refresh Intvl:" setting, be sure to also use "VMWI Ring Splash Len: 0" (on the "Line x" tab), or you might end up with your phone chirping every X seconds, like clock work.

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
Hello,
I do have this problem since yesterday.
In my case, the "Message Waiting" Line 1 status on my ATA is set to "no" and I still have the VM tone.
Anyone have an idea what causing this?

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
I wonder if this is related to this thread
http://forum.freephoneline.ca/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2273
not receiving the new voicemail tone despite actually having a new voicemail.
It's like the MWI/voicemail indicator is not working so it won't change its status from off to on or from on to off...

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
I set VMWI Refresh Intvl: to 300 like Red89GT suggested, but the problem persists.
In the ATA's Info screen, it says: Message Waiting: Yes. So apparently the ATA thinks there is a message.
I also tried power cycling the ATA. It didn't help.

Did you also manually change the msg waiting setting to "no" under your user settings? That should have cleared it.olhotak wrote:I set VMWI Refresh Intvl: to 300 like Red89GT suggested, but the problem persists.

Re: voice mail dial tone despite no voice mail
Isn`t that if you switch 'Message Waiting' to OFF under USER1 tab,you will not get any new messages shown on your device? Even when you get an actual voice message?
