Telephone banking?

I am just curious how VOIP users feel about VOIP security and privacy.

No, because I have always had DTMF issues with touch tone and VOIP. Telephone banking is pretty archaic, If you have access to VOIP, you have access to a PC. Why not use the more secure and more convenient solution? Then again, there are still smucks that use fax machines....

Bridonca does have a valid point about using a PC given the extra security over telephone banking in general. I also find that it's much easier to get things done when I have a visual interface to work with, rather than conducting my business through a phone IVR.

In general though, it would be exponentially easier for someone to listen in on a landline than it would on a VOIP line. On a landline, all they need to do is clip a butt-set somewhere along your line and they practically have an intercom to everything you do. On VOIP, they'd need access to your internet data stream and basic knowledge on sniffing and reconstructing SIP packets. Which, unless you have a very insecure network or WiFi, would be much more difficult to do.

On a similar note - how about we turn this into a suggestion!

Offer VPN and secure/encrypted connections directly to FPL for secure calls! I realize what this entails and the bottomless pit of this... but hey, still a suggestion! :)
