Speaker and mic do not work with FPL

Post by lousk »

Please folks... help!
I downloaded and installed identically the FPL software on my daughter's and on my own HP Pavilion TX (slightly different series) notebooks, using two different accounts.

My issues is that while FPL works flawlessly on mine, her NB sound (although the speakers and mics work fine when playing MP3s, video clips, games, language learning programs, using the built-in mics as well as headset), works fine with all other programs. I compared the sound HW and their respective drivers, they all seeming fine with me. I even turned off the firewall and AV.

Please... any suggestion is welcomed - THANKS!

What I would try is to uninstall the freephoneline client, and then uninstall the java client. reset the machine, and then reinstall the latest java, and then the freephoneline client.

If you already bought the ATA settings, I would get a better softphone like 3cx and use that instead.

I don't use the FPL's softphone right now so I'm not sure if this is applicable but it's another idea...
I came across this problem recently (unrelated issue) when another headset device was connected to the computer - the program defaulted to using that headset instead of the normal computer speaker output. If there's a DEVICE setting in the softphone you might want to check that it's actually using the devices you're expecting...
