THose venerable old timers amongst you that are still here and have not lapsed into dementia of old age may recall a post I made back when you still had to flip your cell phone cover to make or answer a call. For those not old enough to remember that, basically I could never get my cell phones that were on Rogers to dial my FPL number, so I had to get a second paid DID from a commercial VOIP provider. FPL was very kind to allow me to reclaim my old SIP settings after I had to re-port my landline away because of this. Thinking it was Rogers fault for not having updated their networks to acknowledge the new AB area codes, I had called Rogers and started a ticket but guess what, I never heard back from them again, aren't you shocked?
Anyway a few weeks ago my PAP2T died so I replaced it with the backup I had on hand. And as I always want to have a backup ATA and modem on hand, I bought an Obi110 from a friend that had an extra one. An hour ago I started to configure it. I took awhile to get the FPL settings to work on it, but eventually I got there. On my second test call I called it from my Rogers based phone that had never been able to connect previously, and it worked. So I suspect that all this time there may be one string in the PAP2T settings that may have caused this problem all along. If not that, then perhaps a glitch in the firmware of the PAP2T's that I have been using.
Hopefully this lesson, that has taken perhaps a year and a half to figure out, may help someone else if they experience it. Now on to try and tweak the rest of the config settings in the Obi110, the interface seems a lot different than the Linksys, and I'm hoping you can at least back up your configuration settings.
Remember PAP2T Did not accept incoming calls from Rogers?
