My Toronto FPL number started receiving 'unknown' calls late at night (10pm+) every few days. Hence I set my ATA to reject anonymous calls. This has resulted in my FPL inbox now being spammed with junk faxes. The faxes are identified as coming from Mass Media Inc, Richmond Hill and are 'intended for business use only and not meant to solicit residential households'. They provide two different numbers on the fax to call to have my number removed. Both of these numbers are automated asking me to input my phone number. I have my doubts this will help though, more likely confirm my existence for more punishment.
I thought my number might have been sold on but a friend who seldomly uses his FPL account is getting the same. I'm wondering where they are getting the numbers from. Is anyone else getting this junk? I recently added my number to the 'do not call' list.

Re: Junk faxes
Unsolicited fax calls are one of the things that are indeed regulated by the CRTC. I cannot quote it chapter and verse right now, but I remember reading it and checking it up from the front of the "old white pages" directories of days gone by.
I would keep a log of the offending calls coming in, and then use the OPT OUT features that the faxes state, again detailing when you did that.
If it persists past then, file a complaint with the CRTC.
It seems counter-intuitive, but I have gotten rid of spam faxes in the past from bulk-faxers like this. Unlike EMAIL (where replying would signal a live account), telephony is a bit more regulated and there are avenues of complaint available to you.
However, as you are probably all too well aware, the DNC lists are a bit of an ongoing joke with all the loopholes and exemptions.

Hi there,
I am also facing the same problem. At odd times, specially late in the night or early mornings the calls would come from Private Number and if you pick, you will hear fax tone which means the caller is a telemarketing company trying to send faxes on my residential line.
Is there a way to 'reject calls' from private numbers so that these annoying calls would stop?
Any suggestions from veteran members or from customer support please?
Thanks
