I just installed the softphone and everything installed fine. I cannot make an outgoing call. The softphone acts as if it has connected but the phone I am calling does not ring. When I call the softphone I can accept the call and the softphone acts as if connected but the phone line I am calling from rings until it goes to voicemail. I have completely opened up my router and my windows firewall.
Any ideas?

Re: Softphone does not connect outgoing or incoming
Here are a few (non-technical) things that you can try troubleshooting quickly.
Do a speed check & ping/jitter test -- make sure that your internet connection is fast enough and has a low latency to support VOIP.
What else is running on the computer you are using? Has it been quite a while since your last reboot? I too use the softphone, and if the computer has been UP a long time, sometimes there are 'memory leaks' and the softphone behaves weird. Try a quick reboot.
Make sure that your router and machine are communicating at a decent speed (if wireless) - interference can kill a VOIP connection quickly, and sometimes just repositioning an antenna a few cm's can greatly help -- check your signal strength.
Make sure that your router has the ABSOLUTE latest firmware -- a lot of routers have problems with VOIP in their factory default firmware.
All else fails, someone else with more experience on this board will probably chime in soon enough!
