Can i connect the ATA to my laptop tu use the wireless internet to make voip calls ?

Yes, but you would need to set up Internet Connection Sharing on your computer.

It is best to connect an ATA device to your modem or your router.

As I said, ICS is probably the best way to do it, but it requires work on your part to configure. Google is your friend. I would use 2 computers first, and when successful, then set up an ATA. I have personally have used ICS in this manner, with great success, but I also agree with fpl-lauren.

Another option might be to get a router that is flashable with DDWRT, and use it as a wireless access point, you can put in the ATA to the router, the router is connected to the wifi internet router via wifi.
