add pause to contact number

I use the freephoneline application and I can save contacts number in Contact List, but I cannot manage to save PAUSE or WAIT between the main number and that person's phone extension. I tried to use P, W <space> <comma> but I always get "The number is invalid" when I call that person.
How can this be done?
