Follow Me forwarding straight to Voicemail

Post by oridian »

Hi,

I am not able to forward my calls to my Follow Me number I have added.

My FPL is a Calgary number and I am trying to forward this to a Toronto Bell cell phone.

When I register the Follow Me number, everything seems ok but when I make calls to the Calgary number, it goes straight to FPL voice-mail. If I turn Follow Me off, the softphone is able to make and receive calls no problem. Please help.

Thanks!

It's maybe related to the maintenance. Open the Annoncement thread in Problem reports to see.

I thought the issues had already been resolved.

When people enter a Follow Me number, does the "1" appear automatically for them when it is saved?

I cannot add a one while entering the actual number because I can only enter 10 digits, but I do not see a "1" when it is saved. I think that has to be there.

1 is not needed :)
Our system automatically prefixes 1 to all North American calls - much the same as dialling a North American call directly from your line.

Apparently, the system is not prefixing 1 before 10 digit phone number.
I checked one of my friend's configuration who's call forwarding is working for some time.. And he has 1 prefixed in his configuration.
When I put any number for follow-me, it didn't prefix 1 and calls are going to VM directly on first bell...

Hi,

has anyone figured out this problem? I receive the same problem where when I have call forwarding enabled, it automatically goes to voicemail as described above. I cannot type in a "1" before the 10 digit phone number. As with the above poster, I checked with a friend's account and they had set up their call forward numbers a long time ago before this new 10 digit restriction and a 1 does appear before the 10 digit number and the call forwarding works fine.

thanks

This may be a stupid question, but have you tried calling the "forward-to" number directly from your FPL # to make sure that it can be dialed correctly?

In case you are not aware, FPL has recently tinkered with their tariff (RATES) and some areas that used to be FREE calls are no longer FREE -- so if you have ZERO credits, it will not forward correctly. Also, some newer numbers (mainly wireless) may not be loaded correctly into the tariff table either.

Try a quick call directly from your FPL # (either adapter/ATA or softphone) to the number you wish to forward to and VERIFY that it works THAT way.

Failing that, post the NPA-NXX (first 6 digits) of the numbers that you are having trouble forwarding to and I can bash them here and see what gives!

Thanks, and I hope we can help resolve this for you!

hi TheHardy,

thanks. I tried calling the number and i cannot call that number directly with FPL...it won't connect.

the first 6 digits are 604-653

It is a cell phone, and is from within Vancouver (so I would assume that it should work as a free call).

Mike, I think this is the same problem as the other number.
604-653-XXXX numbers are local to your 778-300 exchange (as well as others) http://www.localcallingguide.com/lprefi ... xch=017790 so it should be a free call. Your rate table has it listed as being a 2 cents call though.

I don't think it is his end, you probably just need to check things your end like you did last time.

if it is listed as 2 cents a minute, then you would need to purchase a long distance voucher to be able to forward to the number.

If you can give me the full number, i can look into if it should be added to the free numbers or not.

Heya Spacey ...
604-653 "should" be a local call for the Vancouver area -- it is one of the ratecentres/exchanges that I have already identified as not being correctly tariffed. If it is NOT callable directly for free, then you are unable to call-fwd it either. Mike in the forum can submit it internally to his FPL coworkers to get it fixed up in the tariff table ...

Mike -- if you are reading this, I can verify (the two USUAL websites, as well as FIRST HAND knowledge, as this is my 'hood) that 604-653 should indeed be a local to Vancouver (ie free) call ... 604-653 is a 'newer' (although not THAT new) ROGERS WIRELESS prefix IN Vancouver (Vancouver ratecentre) ...

Spacey -- watch this thread for Mike or someone else from FPL to reply that it has been fixed, usually within 72h, although with New Years here, it may be into 2012 before it is fixed, depending on how much checking the 'back office' needs to do --- FPL will get it corrected tho! :-) They are really good about it, and Mike seems to be able to fwd these issues quickly!

Mike: Jake is right, it is not Spacey's issue with his FPL # or settings etc -- it is a tariff error, as Jake has stated.

I am PM'ing you on this as well, but it is another one for the back office to handle! :-)

And .... while doing a quick check (and yes, I already had over 20 NPA-NXX's local to Vancouver that are wrongly tariffed) ...
these other "adjacent" ROGERS WIRELESS VANCOUVER NPA-NXX's also show $0.02 when they should be free....

604-651
604-652
(604-653)
604-655

They've all been PMd to Mike for followup ....

I am currently putting together a list with a number of them to have them followed up on and verify if they should indeed be free on our network. Please keep them coming as you find them :)

Mike, just go through these pages http://jasv.ca/fpl/ and check all the ones that do not have FREE written next to them. All of those numbers should have FREE next to them and should be pretty close to most of your free call numbers.

Also, when does THIS PAGE get updated? It is not consistent with your actual tariff rates.

Are you sure you want me to do that?? I have a VERY large list ... and I was giving the tariff guys time to shake things out as we await those SOON TO BE ANNOUNCED changes .... (lol) ... I PM'd a fairly detailed list to Steve some time back, and have an offline one here that has some 120+ entries ....

I think Jake has a compiled list as well --- and quite frankly --- it _IS_ something that the people that work with and are RESPONSIBLE for the tariff SHOULD be doing PROACTIVELY rather than REACTIVELY ... I have given FPL (and Fibernetics) the benefit of the doubt as "teething pains" with this for quite some time (as the service IS free) ... however, if I am going to do a lot of the legwork here, then maybe throw me a bone like some FPL credits (or mail me a Timmy's card) --- or put me on Salary! ;-)))) hehehehe

Seriously tho, and all joking aside, shouldn't the folks that are getting paid by Fibernetics/FPL for maintaining the tariff (and rates & routing) be doing this, rather than us users on the forum bugging a CSR rep (yourself) who happens to be partaking in the forums??? It almost seems Mickey Mouse to me ..... IMHO.

Jake -- well put -- see my comments immediately above too ... it is fine for us to nitpick, but where does the BUCK stop? Or the connection fee ... ??? Where does our salary start??
