Sipdriod and freephoneline Codec

Post by fch »

Has anyone tried fpl with sipdriod?

I have managed to setup sipdriod with fpl sip file. However, when receiving a call on Andriod 2.2 phone I keep on getting the error "Incompatible codec". The phone rings and shows the message and that's it.

Also when making an outgoing call using fpl sip, the phone rings but no voice for both callers.

I have tried all the codec selection that sipdriod has, but no luck.

The codec selections is

-silk24
-silk 16
silk8
PCMA 64kbit
PCMU 64kbit
speex 11kbit
GSM 13kbit
BV16

Any help would be appreciated.

From that list, PCMU 64kbit seems to be the only codec that will work.

Groundwire does supports G729a and G711u codecs which FPL supports.
However it is only available for iphone and not andriod based phones

I have the 3CX sip phone on my Android and it worked very well, until I upgraded to 2.3 and now I use the built in SIP client. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tcx.sip.ui

I use CSipSimple:

Works like a charm.
The only thing I noticed is that it gets disconnected from the router from time to time. Not sure if it is not the router-related problem.
