I'm using Linksys PAP2T as my ATA for VOIP. Today, I received a call from someone and I didn't answer the phone but rather I waited for the person to leave a voice mail message. My cordless phone has a voice mail indicator which is a blue light that flashes on and off when there is voice mail. I notice this light does not go on until 30 minutes after the person had left a voice mail. How can I reduce the time it takes for Freephoneline to quickly notify me of new voice mail? In other words, I want the voice mail indicator on my wireless phone to start flashing as soon as I get a new voice mail message.
Thanks.

There is a delay in the voicemail notification because of how the phone and FPL connect. It should be around 10 minutes I believe. Have you tried resetting your system (whether it be ATA, phone, computer, etc)? Sometimes that works out some kinks. Otherwise, after you screened a call, you can check your voicemail manually after a minute or two to see if they left any messages.

As ICE mentions the MWI will turn itself on/off every (upto) 10 minutes. FPL poll all the accounts every 10 minutes to see if messages are waiting for each account or not, then switch the MWI depending on what this poll sees.
Unfortunately there is not really any way around this using the FPL voicemail. It just has to be seen as a downside for not having to pay 50$ a month for the phone line.

If it's an option for you I find the voicemail-to-email option happens very quickly once a message is left.

Mine also takes at least 30 minutes before I get the message waiting indicator... It also seems to take a long time for the indicator to go off, after I've checked messages. I'm using PAP2T also. It only takes 10 minutes for most people? Should I try setting it back to factory default?

Re: Voice Mail Notification Very Slow
Jam: I am experiencing the same problem. It used to be 10 minutes but in the past few weeks (or maybe longer) it has increased drastically. And presently it is jammed on. I wish they would redesign the way that the MWI worked. You would think that giving users the option to "opt-in" for an MWI indicator could drastically reduce the amount of resources to poll all the accounts. It is really only useful to that that are using PAP2 devices, isn't it?
