Connection fees for calling outside of free area?

I read this post on a differnt forum. I never received this email, or see any announcement posts on here. Just want to know what's going on so I don't get any weird hidden charges.

Freephoneline just announced a $0.04/min connection fee for all outgoing phone calls outside of their free calling zones. This is in addition to the LD rate you pay today.

Here's the kicker though... They sent out the notification today (December 15) stating that the changes happened already on December 12. If that's not insult enough, eagle-eyed users see the changes actually took place on December 8.

That's really a piss poor way to do business.

The only real OFFICIAL post is the sticky in the forums here from Steve, and the poorly constructed warning that now does pop up as an advertisement in the FPL softphone client. There is indeed a $0.04/call (PER CALL not minute) CALL CONNECTION surcharge, but some users have reported being charged this even for NON-COMPLETED calls (ie: busy or no answer). Most of the folks that posted details of their call had 2-3 (or more) minute calls, and their data confirmed that it was only $0.04/CALL not per MINUTE surcharge.

Still too much, IMHO, for domestic long distance, and extremely POOR roll out/implementation. Especially for such a limited calling area (if you are outside Southern Ontario!).
