I logged in my account to try to change my email address under “account settings”. I keep getting the message “The other phone number can not be a freephoneline number” . Not sure what this message is about but I’m still unable to change my email address. Has anyone had this problem?

Any chance that you might have had a second account registered under that email address already??
Try logging in using that email address, and hit "FORGOT PASSWORD" -- see what happens. If that is the case, log into that account, delete it, THEN go back and change the one that you are trying to keep.
I seem to remember someone else having this problem. If it turns out that THIS is NOT the case, then repost here and we can try to help you out some more. May end up having to contact Tech Support or PM Kris/Steve if this is not the case tho.

Hardy,
Thanks for the response and suggestion but I never had more than one account with FPL. I did change my password to see if it would make any differences, but still having the same problem.
Any more suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm going to guess that number is now classed as a FPL number, otherwise it would be an easy and cheap way around the problem they are trying to stop.
I expect that you ported the number in after setting up an account, which is why you were able to add the number in the first place. Using a different number in there (a cell number) will allow you to change your email address I suspect.
Jake ,
Not sure if I’m clear on what you’re saying.
Yes, I did open an account with FPL, that was a prerequisite of doing business with them to get VOIP. I was sent an ATA with a temporary number to make sure it worked from my place. I them requested that my own home Bell number be ported to FPL so that I could keep the same phone number. That is the number I am using now.
I guess if you count the number I was first given (temporary number), then you’re right my current home number is my second number with FPL.
Are you suggesting that I can change my FPL phone number to a different number in order to change my email address?
Pierre
Yes Pierre.
That Contact number is so they (or the emergency service) can contact you if they can't get you on your VOIP number. From your explanation this number used to be your contact number, but has since changed to your FPL number.
So, the contact number is not supposed to be your FPL number, but another number that someone can get hold of you on if the main number is not working. If you put your cell number in there you should be able to change your email address.
I think what I am saying is right. Maybe Kris or Steve will correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure if you change that contact number to your cell you will be able to change your email address.
