Just using FPL for about 2 weeks, and suddenly encountered a very disappointing message when I tried to make a local call at 8 pm in Mississauga, Ontario, on January 23, 2012
A female voice message told me : DUE TO HEAVY CALLING , WE CAN NOT COMPLETE YOUR CALL
After all effort I went thorugh (porting my phone number, setting up & trouble shooting my ATA ) , this message does not sound too promising ! Is this a normally occuring thing ?
If service is "BUSY", I will not be able to make even a local call ?
Tried other local Mississauga numbers, they worked fine.
The number I called before serviced by 3web/Distributel , maybe this message is coming from them ?
I have just left this company 2 weeks ago, but while I was with them , I did not hear a message like that.
If the number would be busy, call would go straight into the voicemail.
It will be interesting to hear back from Kris/Steve/Mike tomorrow whether this is an FPL/Fongo message or not ... as Jake points out, it could be generated by the receiving number ... I personally have never had this error message (calling from Vancouver, BC on a Vancouver-based #), and I have called on some peak times to various areas of the country; mind you I have had other failures, but that is more a software issue than a network one.
I have also extensively read thru the forums (from cover to cover, as it were) and never saw this problem brought up before ... so either FPL/Fongo is getting very popular, or this is NOT directly their issue.
If you find anything else out, please let us know...

as a prank, it was suggested , to use this or other messages , which would sound like it is coming from a phone company, and put it as a recording on the answering machine .....(to keep unwanted people away)
This error is definitely not an error message from our side. If you can please PM me the details of the call that would be great - it could be coming from a downstream carrier or the far end. I will investigate into it and see what action needs to be taken to correct it.

Somehow thought that would be the case.
Are there any default error messages from FPL/Fongo/Fibernetics (all F's ...) that we should be aware of that would be generated in a similar cicumstance?

I just PM-ed the details of the call to Steve, phone number+ complete message.
Will try to make a same call at the same time tonight, to see what happens
If call goes through, we will test their voice mail, to make sure that it works ,and takes calls, when line is busy
FPL informed me, that from their end calling my friend number was fine.
Contacted 3web and they agreed that I am still a paying customer until month end and they will investigate the issue.
Also a CSR mentioned, that he has heard something similar before.
About 3 days later the recorded message disappeared and got busy signal, and the following day the call went through fine.
3web CSR also called me on the next day and left a voice message, that a problem was corrected !
So the problem was on their system, and they fixed it !
