[resolved] SIP Issue using CsipSimple on Android

Post by il_signore97 »

Hi,

I've been a long time Freephoneline user, but just recently got an Android phone. I thought it would be a good idea to purchase the SIP settings to get the Freephoneline working on my Android phone (Motorola Razr XT910).

Anyway, the CsipSimple setup appeared to go very well, and the SIP software registers perfectly with Freephoneline. I have tested it over Wifi, and it works perfectly. I can place and receive calls without issue, and sound quality is great.

However, when I tried to use this with my Rogers Wireless 4G data plan, I cannot receive any calls. Basically, it registers perfectly, stays registered as long as the phone is on and a data connection is available, and I can place calls anytime I want. Outgoing calls work perfectly, with great sound quality over the cell data network.

Whenever people try to call my freephoneline number over the cell data network, they get a busy signal. No voicemail, no ringing, just a busy signal... And I receive no notification of the call whatsoever.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?

Thanks in advance.

you should use PCMU codec, not use G729

Thank you for the advice. I was indeed using G729 for the 3G/4G data plan calls, which seemed to work fine. However, as per your suggestion, I disabled all codecs except PCMU 8 kHz, but I still have the same issue. My freephoneline works perfectly in and out on WIFI (with PCMU btw), but on 4G Rogers network with PCMU or G729 / AMR, it still only works for outgoing calls, not incoming (callers get a busy signal all the time - not even my FPL voicemail).

I appreciate the help. If you have any other ideas, let me know ;)
