Respect for "forumers" and supporters

Post by callopsitte_himself »

We are all anxious to see the new Fongo with its goodies and I find it normal and correct that the company does not leak information about it (wether launching date or new functions).

I also find normal that we, the longtime supporters, try to get a little bit of the well kept secrets.

BUT I certainly don't find normal and even less LEGITIMATE that admins lock threads (3 threads!) of us talking about it especially when the company has not met twice the deadline ANNOUNCED and when we have been respectful in those threads.

"LAUNCHING SOON" was the most brilliant thing to do and should have been done from the beginning. It still would not have let forumers try and find out what it is withhelding but it would have given a more legitimate reason THEN to lock the threads (3) about it.

Many people not users of FPL come on the forum before trying and buying. They are all aware that many other companies also offer VoIP and DSL and even if pricing differ from one another price is not the only thing keeping them from choosing which one to go with.

This said, we the forumers, have also been very respectful not leading anyone to go somewhere else but on the contrary trying to intice whomever reaads the forum to buy from FPL instead.

So I can only say that locking threads can only mean a lack of respect to actual and future consumers. Translate to poor CS. I for one will much prefer paying a little more than getting this kind of CS and know many, many others too share this opinion.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying FPL offers bad CS as I have received more than my share of great services from you. All I am saying is let people talk, share their point of view, even disagree and that will have so much positive effect on potential customers as this is about a very hot topic that leaves no one without an opinion: freedom of speech.

"I know you are all very impatient to know as we are as much impatient to offer you what's on the table but we have taken position to present it to all at the same time", even if repeated over and over would be a much more appreciated way to leave us in the blank.

The threads were locked to direct people into one thread (which was said by Kris when he locked them). We were ending up with three threads which were all talking about the same thing (literally).

More information is coming very soon.

Maybe a better option would have been to merge all the threads rather than just locking them. At least then all the discussions (with repetition or not) were all in one place.

I will add that I agree that on the subject of a new site/name that discussions should be continued in an official thread as one was made, rather than fragmented around the forum. If FPL took the time to create an official thread, we should respect that.

I agree with both of you Steve and Jake but Kris also locked the thread he directed us to! At least if that one had not been locked then even if people argumented FPL/Fongo would objectively be more right.

All is not lost, you can still unlock that one (the one redirected to).

Ah, that's because he linked to the thread in the announcements section. (http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3754) which is locked to mere mortals like us. He should have linked to the announcement in an open sub forum like this one http://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3754.

Same topic, but in a forum where we can post.

That all being said this has now been changed. I apologize for the oversight and once more will direct everyone to this thread for further Fongo-talk.

We were actually thinking on the same page - after reading through all the threads a few had some back-and-forth conversation which would have been broken up with a merge. We concluded that things would get pretty messy trying to merge two large threads - likely wouldn't make sense trying to read the thread from beginning to end.

Looks like Kris fixed the other issue pointed out already!

I find it all to be BS at this point -- the thread that got locked first, was one that I created which PREDATED any announcement by FPL about Fongo whatsoever (feel free to go back and check the timestamps if you think I am full of hot air).

I will be taking a break from this forum following all of this which has transpired -- I am critically aware now that my input is valued at about the same as dog-mess stuck to the bottom of someone's shoe, so there is no further point in being somewhere that my input is not appreciated. I know I have been critical of FPL, especially when trying to ascertain information or challenging missed deadlines, whathaveyou, but at some point, there has to be accountability and also some mutual respect of dissenting opinions.

If questions and criticism cannot be tolerated, then this is not really the place for me.

Those that wish to contact me can use the EMAIL link, as after today, I think my visits to the forum will be limited.

Although I don't post often now it does not mean I don't read most posts. I especially enjoy reading you TheHardy and I for one (I'm certain we are many) value the help you give to everyone here and all your comments.

This forum will indeed be missing a lot if you decide to stand on your position. Kris and Steve, I am certain, will also miss you as you have eased very much their tasks by your inputs and verifications when it was needed. You've been doing a terrificly great job.

I guess sometimes when we fall in some sort of misunderstandings it can get hard to undo it all the right way and we kind of stumble to get back on the right track. Hopefully you will think of the situation this way and keep posting and helping as you did.

Maybe, as a gesture of to kind of "erase it all" and do it right as it should have been Kris & Steve could give us (you) a clue as when (as they are aware today) Fongo should be lauch.

So all in favor for Kris and Steve to give TheHardy a clue of the new date they have for the launch of Fongo reply.
