[Resolved] Many Issues, bad product

Waste of money!
Sevice is not really free! If you want to disconnect your landline (from Bell or whoever you are with) they charge $8.00/month for a dry loop to receive the service!!! They don't mention that until after you have purchased everything from them.

Had many many...installation issues.... bad customer service! wasn't worth the headache!

Now that I have had the service for a few months it is very unreliable, and only works when it wants to. So I am without a phone very often, It will work, then 10 minutes later not work, then start working again 1/2 an hour later.

Like I said to start with.... Waste of money!!!

We only charge the dry loop fee if you switch to our internet - that is purely a personal choice. You can keep your existing internet provider if you wish... We simply advertise our internet as a cross-promotion thing, but like I say, no pressure or requirement to change - it's just there if you want it.

It's been a bad month for service reliability but we are working with the vendor on that and hope to get it resolved as quickly as possible.

The service is free and it's only the initial upfront hardware purchase that is required.

If you're having issues or complaints about customer service then please PM me with the names of the agents you spoke with and I will personally make sure the complaints are looked into.

Yes the service really is free. You recieve a free phone number, free softphone, free caller id, free voicemail, free follow me, free unlimited local calling, and a free membership.

Then you have the choice of paid options. Such as activating your home phones with an ATA (which you must already own, or buy... with a one-time fee) by purchasing their configuration settings (one-time fee). Of course, you will obviously need internet to use FreePhoneLine. So FreePhoneLine also offers you the option of getting internet (dry loop dsl) from them. You do not need to get internet from FreePhoneLine, you can get internet from whoever you choose. Many phone companies offer dry-loop DSL without the need to have home phone service from them. There is also internet from Cable Companies. Either way, you will need to pay for the internet. Internet is not free. FPL does not offer free internet.

Sorry to hear that. If a Customer Service Representative does not meet your needs (despite what company you are dealing with), you should always write down the names and/or employee numbers of the agents. If you did that already, you need to take your complaint higher up in the company. Not only will that ensures you will receive the best Customer Service possible but it also deals with your complaint against the Customer Service Agents you spoke to earlier. I suggest you run over to the Help section of this forum, so the users and FPL admins can try to solve your problems!

I think most people do not understand what is behind the need for a dry loop and how the band rate fees vary by location. They also appear not to understand that the band rate fee for the dry loop goes to the carrier (EG: Telus, Bell, etc.), Maybe a 'Sticky' (excuse me if there is one already that I overlooked) somewhere in the forum giving a compreshensive overview of what dry loops are all about would be helpful.

There is a brief Wiki about dry loops here.

Due to the nature of our service (One-time payments) we currently have a 'no refunds' policy.
