Calling 1 before the number?
i live in windsor and i picked a chatham number for relatives. they have to still dial 1 before the number even though they live in chatham? is this right or are they going be charged long distance fees. it wouldn't let her just call with the area code + number. thanks

That shouldn't be the case. No one dials 1 first for my number.
What message do they get if they don't dial a 1?

it says the standard "this is a long-distance number, you need to dial 1 or 0 before the number"Jake wrote:That shouldn't be the case. No one dials 1 first for my number.

That would suggest that their TelCo thinks that the number is long distance, not that FPL is making it long distance.
What are the first 6 digits of each number (eg 613-366-xxxx)?

Well on the local calling guide those show that they should be local to each other. I'm afraid the only thing to do is to get your relative to call into Bell and explain to them what is happening. Sometimes with new NPAs it takes a while for everyone to put it into their system as local.
If they call in and explain the call should be local but they are being charged long distance, that should start the ball rolling in the right direction. I'm sure FPL will tell you that your relative will have more clout calling into Bell than they will as they are the customer.
Let us know how you get on.

That's strange, it is listed up as being owned by Bell http://www.localcallingguide.com/lca_pr ... nextdays=0flower_petals wrote:she uses cogeco but i will try that. thanks for the suggestions.
Maybe Cogeco buy get their numbers from Bell, or did she port it out?
Either way, contact whoever she get's her line from first. Someone else might have a suggestion also, but this is where I would start.
