help! Linksys PAPT2 message indicator stutter tone

Post by bf7041 »

I am wondering if anyone on FPL who used the linksys papt 2 has been able to get the visual message waiting light or stutter tone to work properly.

The phone works great except for this feature - when turned on, the stutter tone and light will not turn off after message has been deleted.

I have the unit in the "demilitirzied zone" - and the refresh feature set to .5 for the VMI setting.

If I turn off the message waiting feature in "user 1" it will stop the behaviour - but then it will never alert me to new messages.

If you have this function working properly could you lend me some insight on your settings?

thanks,

John

John,

I use the Linksys SPA2102 ATA with two FPL accounts. Unfortunately, the MWI / stuttering tone the FPL uses for voice mail messages is totally garbage. Initially, when I signed up with FPL a few months ago, it would lit and go off after about 10 minutes after a message was received or deleted, respectively. Even though I found 10 minutes to be totally unacceptable, this delay then became 20 minutes, then 40 minutes, then one hour. Now, it never turns on at all.

The other feature that does not work properly for me is the voice mail message time announcement. I activated the automatic one that is spoken at the beginning of the message and, for the first message, it is always wrong: usually it is five (or more) hours ahead of the actual message. Unbelievable!

I know this is a free service, and the voice quality has been very good for me, but such bugs are unacceptable, especially as I use FPL as my main telephone service and I rely on it. If FPL cannot fix these features, they should not offer them in the first place. I will give FPL a little more time but, if these two issues, will not get fixed, I will switch to other services like voip.ms.
