Not able to use *67 :-(

Post by patrob »

Is there any way to use this feature *67 that blocks my # from showing?
I get this message when I press it "this call is not covered by your tariff plan" :? :(

Thanks in advance,

What ATA do you use? If Linksys SPA2102, login you with admin username and check on tab /Voice/Regional/ and at "Vertical Service Activation Codes" and at "Block CID Per Call Act Code:" change value for *67 if not this code.

At this time we do not support caller ID blocking - we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

When might you start supporting it? I am sure I am not the only one who would like to use this important feature that most people are used to? :x

I have not heard of any plans in the near future to support this functionality - since we're giving away free phone service we do need to take a few measures to protect ourselves and others against those who don't use free phone service for it's intended purpose and choose to abuse it :)

Please explain what you mean by "abusing it & protecting who from what"?? :? It's nice to have this feature when you don't want others to see your phone number to protect myself :!:

As it is a free service, people with no scruples could harvest a number or three (or twenty) and use it to make telemarketing or prank or other annoying calls using *67 to block their outgoing number and cause problems for the people they are calling. FPL/Fongo would then have to deal with the complaints and spend time and effort to go thru their logs to track down the responsible party. By not supporting call blocking, if someone complains, they KNOW the number that they are complaining about and it is FAR easier for FPL/Fongo to deal with the user that made the calls in question!

Clear enough? It is not an explanation from an OFFICIAL, but is is pretty crystal clear to figure out from where I am sitting.

Again, it is only my thoughts, take them with a grain of salt! :-)
