Nanaimo BC - Local Calling Area

Post by TheHardy »

First off, let me state that it APPEARS that Nanaimo BC is one of the FREE CALLING cities, even though there is no official documentation to support this. The RateLookUp tool seems to show almost ALL of the EXISTING NPA-NXX's in NANAIMO-proper to be rated at $0.00/FREE (even tho there are 3 or 4 new/recently assigned ones that pop at $0.02).

Two prongs of questioning here ...

a) confirm officially that NANAIMO, BC is indeed a FREE CALLING CITY and not just a tariff-error

b) Find out if there are any plans to include the LCA of NANAIMO's wireline calling area to the Fongo FREE calling area.

Currently, as with almost all of the non-DID FREE CALLING cities, it is only NANAIMO itself that rates free calls. As with OTHER cities, however, ratecentres within the LCA which are geographically PART of the CITY OF NANAIMO are excluded from the FREE CALLING area!

Traditional wireline LCA includes: Cedar, Gabriola Island, Ladysmith, Lantzville, Wellington.

More specifically all but Gabriola and Ladysmith are partially within the city boundaries of NANAIMO ... and very specifically 250-390 includes several NANAIMO local government numbers!

**EDIT: Correction, it seems that WELLINGTON #'s are for the most part FREE as well, just the more recently assigned ones missing! **
