freephoneline softphone doesn't work on windows 7

Post by zel108 »

I use freephoneline softphone on windows xp for while and never had any problems. But, Softphone got no sound since I upgrade my windows xp to windows 7.

1) It pop up an error message window said some temp.txt open error when It start.

2) I did test connection found 'Sound data transfer:NONE.

3) I stoped the antivirus and firewall but still got same result

4) I installed VMware on same machine runing windows XP, and softphone runs perfectly fine on this virture XP inside Windows 7 environment

5) Check the settings, under 'Other' there is a DTMF type, its "In-band(tone)"

Thanks in advance!

BTW: I have tried to installed Dell Voice desktop clint on my new uograded windows 7 system and Dell Voice Softphone runs charming. Really don't want to drop my old phone from Freephoneline instaed of Dell Voice.

I'd suggest fully uninstalling both the softphone and Java, then reinstalling the latest versions in reverse order. Also, try disabling all firewalls just to see if that makes any difference.

Most of our systems in the office are running Windows 7 - so the softphone itself is compatible - we just need to find out what's happening on your specific system to cause the issues encountered.

On the uninstall of the FPL software, if it does not work, try using the REVO uninstaller -- for whatever reason, sometimes the default uninstaller does not get all of the files ...

Thank you TheHardy and FONGO_steve.

I just uninstalled Freephoneline softphone and Java then reiinstall the freephoneline ( it installed Java first then FPL). But no luck!

My windwos 7 environment is 64-bit and I also have 64-bit Java SE installed for Java development. Is this a problem with FPL?

Thanks again!

Yesterday, I uninstalled the latest version and replaced with an old version( v3.03 ) that I found on my hard drive. The old one works fine but alaways ask me for upgrade.

So, my question is what is the difference between new and old version for sound issue?

I haven't tried the desktop app recently, but have rarely had issues with it and I was an early adopter of Win7.

I'm at work at the moment, so can't help much, but when I'm home if you still require help I'd be more than happy to use a remote assistance program, or to walk you through various testing. (My program of choice is Team Viewer for remote assistance.)

I'm reputable, so you don't have to worry about that, Steve will vouch for me, I think. :P
