Is it possible to porting phone number from italkbb?

Post by zel108 »

Is it possible to porting phone number from italkbb to freephoneline as well as to keep italkbb VOIP router? The VOIP router from italkbb is SPA-2102.

Thanks in advance!

Hi zel108,

As long as the number is coming from a city where we can normaly provide a number, porting should not be an issue.
You should also be able to usehe ATA you ae already using, although our customer service representatives do not provide technical support for it. If having issues, you would need to use these forums for help.

RE: your SPA-2102 ATA.

Have you logged into the interface on your ATA before?
Did you notice if it's been heavily branded by italkbb?

Some providers will lock down your device with custom firmware.
You may want to attempt to log in to the advanced administration menu and ensure that you have access.
(There are many on the board here who can help you unlock the device if it is locked, or if italkbb won't unlock it.)

You should return your ATA device to iTalkBB to get your initial device deposit refunded.
If you keep the device then iTalkBB would take your deposit.
So it's up to you whether you keep the ATA or not, but make sure you've taken into account any extra money you pay to unlock it.

Ah, this is a good point j8van, not all VoIP Providers have outright sold the ATA, but some are monthly rentals or deposits. Something more to look into before making your decision on keeping vs. buying new.

So questions requiring simple yes/no answers.

1) Is the ATA brand locked?
if yes, see 2
2) Is the ATA owned?
if yes, skip to 6
if no, see 3
3) Is the ATA rented?
if yes, see 4
if no, see 4
4) Is there an ATA deposit?
If yes, see 5
If no, see 6
5) Is the ATA Deposit <= the cost of a new ATA?
if yes, see 6
if no, see 7
6) Is there a simple debranding/unlocking procedure?
if yes, end here
if no, see 7
7) Purchase an ATA through alternate channels such as FPL/VoipSupply/Ebay/Electronics shop, etc.
