Is it possible to port a No. and keep FPL No. as well?

Post by shoryuken »

Hi,

I have a FLP number with SIP credentials that I want to keep and want to cancel my land-line and transfer that number to FLP as-well. Is it possible to do this or do I need to open a new account and buy a new SIP credential?

The number I want to port begins with 819-776, can that be ported to FLP?

Thanks

They changed things lately, and now you don't need to buy the config file to port in a number. So as you have an existing number, just set up a new account and port your number in over the new one. It will obviously cost you 25$ +tax.

If you port it in to your existing account it will over write that one and you will loose that number. I am guessing that would be a bad thing.

So, set up a new account, then call in to port the number into the new account. You can always buy the config file later if you want to do more with it.

As for porting in the number - your best bet will be to call in, they will tell you right away. As it is a Quebec number (?) I don't think it is as cut and dry as, say, an Ontario number which seems to be a bit more covered. It looks like you are just a spit over the water though, so you should be OK.

FPL/Fongo does offer Hull #'s insofar as 819-815 is a Fibernetics exchange "on that side of the river" ... so the port in should be possible, based on that factor. As we have seen in the past though, it is always best to confirm this directly with someone in customer service.
