I'm Long Distance to EVERYONE!?

Post by Canadiangirllynn »

I can't seem to have anyone call me as it's long distance for them... is there any way to change my location to Toronto so that calls are local for my friends & family to make?

Sadly, at the moment we are not able to offer Toronto numbers. When we first released Dell voice, we had not been expecting the HUGE response we got. Although we have over one million numbers at any given time that can be assigned, they are broken down to all of the regions we offer service in.
At this point, we ask that you take a number for another area local to Toronto (perhaps Markham or North York) When Toronto numbers become available again, you would want to either sign up a second account while using another email address, or delete your account and sign up again using the same one.

As Mike replies, the stock of TO numbers has been completely depleted at this moment. Feel free to use the www.localcallingguide.com tool to find a city that FONGO does have numbers in that would be a local call to MOST of the people that would be calling you (as an alternative to TO at this moment). You should be able to select something that covers MOST of the people that would be calling you, and then, as Mike suggests, sign up for a TO number when more are available.

What Mike didn't suggest (and I am disappointed in him), is that "you can always get your friends/family to sign up for their own FONGO account/number as Fongo-Fongo calls are ALWAYS free!!" (sorry to steal your line, Mike!) :-)

Alternatives to TO # ...

Post by TheHardy »

Just took a quick poke, would an AJAX-PICKERING # work okay for you in the interim, until TO #'s free up? Where is your CURRENT Fongo number based out of?

I do know, from some simple research, that Fongo's parent company (Fibernetics) has requested assignment of some additional NPA-NXX's in TO ratecentre ... so #'s should trickle down to Fongo for assignment before too long!

Additional Toronto #s

Post by TheHardy »

Followup from research on the CNAC site ...

Fibernetics is assigned (pending!) the following #'s in TORONTO:
647-872, -873, -874.

While all these WON'T trickle down to DV/FPL (Fongo), there'll still be the good part of 30,000 more numbers coming down the pipe in the future!

Looks like the -874 numbers have come online. There seems to be quite a few Toronto numbers available now.

Good to know, I was unsure of which block would pop first, but I guess Fibernetics kicked some #'s to DV/FPL post-haste!
