Hi I just saw on the Fongo site that a $4.95/month monthly essential fee will be charged for customers that sign up. Does this fee apply to (current) FPL customers too?
There's also a $0.99 per month fee showing up as "Coming 2012" page on FPL website. Can someone elaborate? Thanks.

Re: Monthly Essential Fee for FPL
They have said that FPL customers will stay as they are, it is only new Fongo customers that only have the choice of home phone with the 4.95 charge. Fongo customers that paid for the config file will not be charged either, it is only for new people who sign up for the home phone on Fongo. You can still just buy the config file, but that is only on FPL.
The 0.99 charge is where we are going to (maybe) add an additional number to our existing account, for a monthly fee of 0.99. This basically means you can have a Vancouver and Ottawa number ring your one account. It's a choice to opt into, and not a charge that FPL will be bringing in. 2012 is fast slipping by, so I wouldn't hold your breath about being able to do this anytime soon.
The way to look at it is, neither Fongo nor FPL will start charging you something for that you signed up for when it was free. You will only pay for something if you knew about it to start with. There does seem to be more pay stuff than free stuff now, but then I guess that is the way of business.
