Hi guys,
I just bought the SIP settings and activated a freephoneline number in Montreal and I was assigned a 438 area code number (which supposed to be SIMILAR, EXACT area code as 514 area code).
Now, when trying to call to my 438-388-xxxx number from a 514 Montreal number it says that this is a long distance call and to dial 1 before the number ...
Is it a knows issue? Can it be fixed? It should NOT be a long distance call!!!
Thanks
calling to 438-388-xxx from 514 numbers is long distance?

Hi epsilon, I would check the NPA NXX for your 514 number here against the freephoneline number you were assigned:

This tool will state if the call should be local, if it is you might want to contact the provider of the 514 number to find out why.

Re: calling to 438-388-xxx from 514 numbers is long distance
The problem lies NOT with Fongo (DV/FPL) but with the carrier you are using to call TO your number --- your carrier (Bell? Videotron? ???) has NOT loaded the new 438-388 data into THEIR switches, which is why it is coming up as LD. Your 438-388 number is MONTREAL and should function just like any other MONTREAL # ... so, I would, even though it is a PainInTheAss, call your carrier that is telling you it is a LD call, and open a trouble ticket --- if you can get it escalated, ask for 'RATES & ROUTING' directly -- it is their little back office thingie that needs to be corrected. I have gone thru this SEVERAL times with SEVERAL carriers out here in BC for new-ish Vancouver area numbers also ...epsilon3 wrote: I just bought the SIP settings and activated a freephoneline number in Montreal and I was assigned a 438 area code number (which supposed to be SIMILAR, EXACT area code as 514 area code).

Again, to restate, it is NOT a Fongo issue .... It is the carrier you are dialing FROM into your Fongo number ....
