many rings when calls are forwarded
There are many rings when calls are forwarded, I have tried all settings. Currently it is set to 1 ring before calls are forwarded, but when I call my number it rings 10 times or more!
Is there a fix for this?

Does the number you are forwarding to fall within the Fongo free calling zone?

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
yes it is in the free calling zone and does work, however there are many rings before it picks up. It seems like the number of rings settings are doing nothing.

I'd suggest either opening an email ticket or PMing someone like FONGO_mike for some assistance with troubleshooting this on your account.
I'm just about to head out of the country so I don't want you to be waiting on me if you were to PM me.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
I am not sure what information you need? I have set the number of rings before forwarding to 1. The number of rings before answering is 3.
if you need things like phone numbers, etc. I can do that just let me know.
Thank you for your assistance.

Bried reminder as to what the issue is will suffice for now.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
when someone calls my number, it seems to ring forever! (probably rings about 10 times or more)
I have the settings set up so that calls are forwarded after one ring.
Is there a way that calls will be forwarded no matter what (like no rings at all).
I had this option on a voip phone which worked great at that time period.
I can PM the phone number to you so you can try it, just let me know.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
It now takes 6 rings before the calls are forwarded. I changed the setting to 1 ring before the calls are forwarded and 12 rings before the calls are sent to voicemail.
If the setting is 1 ring, shouldn't there be only one ring?
Is there a way to disable voicemail? The number that I am forwarding to has voicemail so I don't need it.

I can't help you with the # of rings because I don't use them, but to answer this question - no. They make it go to voicemail so they stand a better chance of getting the termination fee for an answered call and thus income.ckeays wrote: Is there a way to disable voicemail? Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
the system is USELESS and totally unusable!!!!
When someone calls me, the caller hears the phone ring 6 times on their end.
At my end the phone only rings once or twice before disconnecting. If you happen to be far away from the phone, it's IMPOSSIBLE to answer it within two rings.
Can anyone help me? OR do I have to ditch this useless service and go for a paid service?
I am reluctant to apply any funds to my account until this problem is resolved.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
Without beating a dead horse, you do get what you pay for. I too have noticed that over the last month or so, the "follow-me" module has been acting weird --- I have a DV # that I give out on my employers website which I set to alternately forward to my company cell, or just take a voicemail for after hours. It is set to 1/2 rings usually too, but callers get 8-9 rings on their end. I have fiddled with the settings also to no avail, but at least it rings enough times for me to answer it when it does finally forward to the cell.
I am not complaining too much, but there is something amiss with the follow-me module as it is currently operating.
Just curious -- is your problem with a DV account or an FPL account? My older/primary FPL account is working as it should, it is only the newer DV account that I am having problems with....

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
Much as I suspected. Sorry I cannot come up with a solution at this time, as I am not aware if there is one. Without word or intervention from a Fongo rep, it is hard to figure out what might be causing this, but it is important to note that it seems to be isolated to DV accounts and not FPL ones.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
mysteriously after my last post it now works as it should. Call the number and it answers after one ring (as set up in my settings).
I didn't do anything at all, someone must have repaired the problem.

Re: many rings when calls are forwarded
This does happen -- Especially when Steve or Mike get into things and pass a request upstream to the right people -- oftentimes "mysteriously" things get fixed without any report back or fanfare. The right people just need to get in touch with the other right people to make the corrections, and unfortunately, because the forums here are still an UNOFFICIAL support mechanism, reports of solved issues are NOT always made...ckeays wrote:mysteriously after my last post it now works as it should.
