My wife called family members in the UK today. It was a complete disaster. The conversation was so choppy, it was hard to communicate. It was our first exposure to international calls using Fongo home phone. Useless to say that she is not a happy camper.
I also have a bone to pick with lost calls and busy signals - see my comments in another thread. The caller should never get a busy signal. Unless there is a major internet outage, calls which can not be completed should be directed to voice mail.
Reliable phone service is still important. While Fongo is 'free' it is at this point too buggy.
Any comments?

Re: international Call Disaster
What other processes were using your internet when you made the calls? Were you running QOS? I occasionally make calls to the UK (and have done so for years but I don't use FPL) and the call quality is usually similar to or better than usinga landline phone. I would expect the quality of FPL calls to be very high unless your internet is too slow , too busy or otherwise unreliable. I suspect that the problem is probably with your router as it is a model that seems to have given others problems in the past.

Re: international Call Disaster
I use another provider for calls to my family in the UK, and the quality is MUCH better than the phone cards I used to use; it's also a lot cheaper.
I have not used Fongo for long distance or international calls, but I doubt the call quality would be bad, it's not in their interest to push out a crappy service. I think there is another issue somewhere along the way that caused this.

1./ There were no other processes running, I was not even at home. Which was bad because my wife on her own never thought of re-dialling. Needless to say that my experiments are do not get any praises.dibsmft wrote:What other processes were using your internet when you made the calls? Were you running QOS? 2./ I have a new router, Netgear WNDR3400. I have to figure out the QoS setting.
I use Skype quite frequently and the call quality, even with video, is generally quite high. So I guess my Internet connection speed seems to be OK. There could have nee a hick-up though?!
