Calling Local European Numbers When in Europe
I have been told that a free UK account/phone number can be registered for making free domestic calls in the UK when visiting the UK. If this information is correct (?), then does the same hold true for Italy?

Hi Traveller,
Fongo only provides Canada numbers and calling to Canadian numbers for free.
If in the UK you would still be able to call the free calling area in Canada for free, and people would be able to call you for free (standard long distance rates may apply if the number is not local to them)

Thanks for the response. Since I am new to this service, then if I am in the UK or Italy than I can use my Toronto area number to make free calls to family and friends in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto?

So long as you have wifi/internet or a data connection, you are able to place/receive free calls (subject to normal Fongo calling areas) -- please note that some wifi and or data connections MAY block some of the traffic which constitutes the VOIP component, so even though the Fongo network/setup is allowing the calls to be free and complete, the underlying transport (internet/wifi/data) is causing them to fail.Traveller wrote:Thanks for the response. Very true. On a lot of public networks (like hotels that offer the service free) certain ports are generally closed off. there is no real way of knowing until you try to use it on their service.
