Issues with new texting feature

Hi Fongo,

Since the iPhone application has been updated, I was able to purchase the unlimited texting feature. However, I am experiencing some issues. I hope you will be able to help me.

Here is my first problem. I am having the following message everytime I open the app: "Cannot Complete Purchase. Sorry your transaction was not processed. The purchase will attempt to complete the next time the app is started." I started the app many times without luck. I logged out and logged in again without luck. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app without luck. :-( The thing is that when I check the Add-ons, it says that I have the texting option for the next 30 days.

My second issue is probably related to the first one. But we never know. I am only able to receive text messages when the application is open. I am not being warned when the app is closed via a push notification. When the app is open, messages come in and go out without any trouble.

Hi Peter,

a call into a CSR or PM'ing me your DV number is (with alink to this thread any other information you can provide, like phone, OS on the phone, 3G/4G network or ISP if on WiFi)

I had the same "Cannot Complete Purchase" each time I bought credits on an iPod for my two daughters. BUT if you don't do anything for another 10 seconds or so another popup comes on saying it went through. This happened BOTH times to me. The first time I guess I was lucky because I am a bit slow with these sorts of things and stood there for a bit trying to work out what went on (or rather what didn't go on).

I would suggest if it says you have text for the next XX days, you have bought the package. If you have tried this a few times, I would check to see if you actually bought it more than once. If you can send and receive message to non DV numbers, you have definitely bought the package.

With the notification thing, did you allow the app to push notifications to you? Ours asked us when I first installed the app. You can check by going into Settings > Notifications > Dell Voice. There you should see various options to play around with.

Personally I would double check my credit card just to make sure it didn't accidentally bill you twice.

Thanks for your input. All notifications are enabled in the settings of my iPhone. Unfortunately I tried to call myself today and the push notification isn't being received. Seems like a global issue for my DV number. :-) Let's hope Mike will be able to help me.

I have just had complaints from my daughters :roll:

The push notifications do not come through unless DV is running in the background. If DV is not running in the background, no push notification come though, and I get angry daughters :?

Both are running the latest 1.4.1.72 versions of DV

Wow Jake ... Thank you so much! Very happy to know I am not the only one with issues. :-) Try to call your daughters, normally there won't be any notifications as well.

I also just discovered that changing my settings on the phone (eg: number of ringtones before going to voicemail) doesn't change anything in reality. After 4,5 ringtones, it switches to the voicemail even if I selected 12.

Please DV .... Help. :-)

You are right, they don't get push notifications on phone calls either when the app is not running in the background.

I'm sure it used to work fine, but maybe they are just more aware of it with this text thing now.

Is this how it is supposed to be? I thought push notifications were supposed to come though no matter if the app was running in the background or not.

Hi Jake,

No this is definitely not supposed to be. It used to work fine with me as well. I hope they are investigating this issue.

I am waiting for a fix for this as well - no push for incoming calls while app is closed.
Having dell voice open consumes alot of battery....it would be helpful to get push back.

anyone know approximately when this may be resolved?

To get push notifications, the app needs to be running (even if just in the background as we can not push notifications if the app is not logged in and activated) and push notifications turned on from the phones options screen.

Me do not somthing is going on and this has been sent to the dev team but we have not been informed yet of any updates.

I was able to get incoming call notification while app was closed when I had iphone 4...
but now after getting iphone 5, ios6, it no longer gives notification....

I always used to have dell voice closed to save battery...and still get incoming notification before.
Has this feature been removed? :(

Hi Mike,

I must say this isn't true because I used Dell Voice for a few months and I can guarantee you that push notifications were send to my iPhone if the application was closed. This is the whole goal of a push notification. Hence, we should make a distinction between "the app is closed" and "the user did unlog himself". I do believe that if the user did unlog himself, the push notifications will not reach the phone.

If you (speaking about Dell Voice in general) can't fix this, there is no use for me anymore to be with Dell Voice.

tried restoring and only installing dell voice... no luck.

my friend is still able to get notifications while app is closed on IOS 5/ iphone 4 with the latest Dell Voice app.

So this may be due to IOS 6 issue.....and hopefully can be resolved?

What we seem to be seeing is that when the OS was upgraded to v iOS6, that is where we are seeing lack of push notification. Our dev team is looking into it

ok - yes please let me know.

In the mean time, as a work around, I"m trying to setup follow me, to another FPL account #...but it's saying it's already used as a follow me #, even though it isnt. I had emailed support many times in the past week, and have not heard back.

How can I go about adding it with that error message?

looks like both my issues above have somehow resolved itself.

Now i'm ABLE TO GET incoming push notification while app is closed &
ABle to add the follow me number. wahoooo!

Thanks for letting us know. I will check with my daughters later to see about their push notifications. Are you sure it was shut down, or just running in the background?

Hi All,

Just want to say that I tested the push notifications on my side. Everything seems to be working perfectly now. I do receive push notifications for incoming calls and messages.

Thanks for the work. Dell Voice is great again. :-)
