Softphone dies/network issues

Post by TheHardy »

Wow. Okay, while assisting Jason in Toronto with his connect via FPL issue (yes, a lot of it was PM) I placed several test calls to his ChatR number, had call logs open, and was PMing and regular forum-ing.

Granted I did not reboot my PC during all of this, but in using 3.0.3.0, I encountered a lot of issues. Audio on the outgoing test calls was 80% absent (which made it hard to hear the error message).

Then I get several text messages on my work cell asking why they cannot reach me by phone and are getting a busy signal. Now what I have set up, is my FPL # is set to ring 5x (max) and I have 2 FM #'s set fwd when unavail--- one is to a cheapy prepaid cell that I use only for txt messaging (unlimited for very little cost) for _1_ ring, and then fwd to my work cell (8x). This is because I can usually tell that when my txt phone beeps and then my work phone, that it is a legit FollowMe call from my FPL # ... sort of an elegant set up.

So, I had NO missed calls ... which is weird, as both cells had service. So I did a test.

Even though my softphone was sitting at idle (I hit end a few times to make sure), all incoming calls to my FPL # had a long delay (as if it was doing the follow me), and then a BUSY signal. I verified this, and the logs are here:
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:51:02 22.10.12 22:51:02 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:51:13 22.10.12 22:51:13 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:51:35 22.10.12 22:51:35 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00

But these calls never came thru.

Tried an outbound call from my FPL #/softphone to a cell direct --- it set up and showed that it was calling but nothing ever rang, and no call entry logs are present!

Rebooted just the FPL softphone (not the confuser), tried a call inbound (with the forwarding) and nothing again ... more log entries.
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:51:45 22.10.12 22:51:45 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:53:23 22.10.12 22:53:23 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00
anonymous 1778300**** 0:00 22.10.12 22:53:33 22.10.12 22:53:33 Normal call clearing Vancouver BC $ 0.00

Finally did a reboot on the confuser, and now it is working correctly.

Issues: Even if the softphone is tied up (and how does it get so, it was idle!?) why does the forwarding not work correctly in the FM module?
Why do these calls show up in the call log when the line rings busy (which it should not do! Either forward or go to FPL voicemail)
Why did a softphone reboot (close and reopen) not clear any SIP credentials, why did I have to reboot my PC?

Hmmmm .... you can see why I am getting frustrated with this stuff!!!
