Error: "unable to send/receive sound data port 13000..."

Post by Zeroez »

Hi folks,

I've installed Dell Voice v1.1.1.0 on my Windows Vista (64-bit, SP2) desktop computer but am unable to make calls. When I "Test Connection" from the Settings button, the application eventually determines that the "Call Service is OK", but the audio port 13000 is not open. The error is: "Unable to send/receive sound data! Port 13000 should be available."

I have a DLink DI-704 router, the Windows Firewall, and MS Security Essentials. I've done the necessary port forwarding from my router to the PC and have "allowed" the Dell Voice application free-access to the internet in the Firewall and Security Essential's configurations with no improvement. After that, I bypassed my router entirely, connecting the computer directly to the modem and additionally disabled both the Windows Firewall and Security Essentials, again with no impact.

Following that failure, I installed Dell Voice onto a Windows XP SP3 machine and connected it to the modem directly, disabling the Windows Firewall for a brief period while I ran the "Test Connection" feature again. I received the same error message and was still unable to make calls.

I've been reading in the forums that this seems to be a common problem from many users but despite that, I've not come across a single solution yet. It seems that, during September, some users lost their service briefly but then found that, whatever the problem was, it had self-resolved within a few days. Doesn't much help me. I'm a new user and have not seen the application work once so far.

It sounds to me that the majority of users believe there is a software flaw in the 1.1.1.0 version of Dell Voice that is generating this problem. Can I get some input / advice / suggestion from a Fongo team member on whether there is anything I can do to get the application running properly, please?

Thank you,

Zero
