Fast busy tone on incoming calls

Post by amirg »

For the past few days any incoming calls to my FPL DID just get a fast busy tone signal. No ringing at my end. Outgoing calls go through normally. I have not changed anything on my network. Using a PAP2T behind a TEW-652BRP router with NAT enabled. Same setup was working without a hitch until a week ago.

Same issue when I connect the ATA directly to the cable modem bypassing the router. Starting to think there's a problem with my DID. Any way to test it?

Do you mean a factory reset or just a power cycle? I have power cycled it to no avail. Also upgraded to the latest firmware 5.1.6 (LS) but still have the same issue.

Did a factory reset but did not help with the problem.

Unrelated to an ATA issue, but I have experienced the same issue with just my plain old FPL softphone (PC app 3.0.3.0) ... the app crashes or hangs, and then incoming callers get the fast busy when they call me (also not being forwarded to any of my follow me settings, nor even back to my FPL voicemail).

When I notice this, or am made aware of it, I need to force-shut-down the FPL app (as it has hung) and then restart it, re-register (login) and then it is ok. Sometimes if it will not reload, I need to MANUALLY KILL the procedure, and if that does not work, reboot.

What is happening is the registration state of the softphone is also hung-up in the Fongo network ... and by restarting and re-registering, I am able to clear that fault.

TRY THIS: unplug your ata power (just to make sure it is not connected). Fire up the PC (or mac) softphone and see if you can log in to your account. NOW try an incoming phone call to see if it works. Terminate the app properly. Plug back in the ATA and try a call again.

This is NOT a fix for your problem, just a troubleshooting procedure .... hope you can get it working!!! :)

Interesting. I disconnected the ATA and used the softphone. Outgoing calls are fine but incoming calls still have the exact same issue...just a fast busy tone at the other end. No forwarding to VM etc. Could this be a DID problem? What's the next debugging step?

I am at a loss, sorry. As I said on my post, the registration-state seems to freeze, and I need to NUDGE it to get it to go again.

PM Steve or Mike with a link to this thread and see if they might be able to do something on their end to look into your specific problem.

Sorry I could not be of more assistance on this, and that my suggestion failed in your case! :(
