I just called to port my existing bell phone # over to FPL today, but I was a bit saddened to learn that after 90 days of inactivity FPL will cancel my home number that I paid to port over after this period of inactivity.
Now it's pretty unrealistic that I'd not use the service to make a single call in a 90 day period, but what I'd like is the peace of mind of knowing that FPL will not cancel my service on me after inactivity. I'd even be willing to go so far as to PAY for this benefit. Therefore that is my suggestion for you to be more profitable. Sell this for a monthly fee and I'm sure lots of people would be happy to oblige to the fee for the peace of mind.
Fongo charges $4.95 / month, so FPL should do something similar. I never want to lose my original bell number!
Don't cancel inactive number and make FPL more profitable

Ported numbers to freephoneline will never be cancelled for inactivity. It's only free numbers that are subject to this condition.

Re: Don't cancel inactive number and make FPL more profitabl
I just read this and now I am concerned. I signed up for a free phone number then paid the extra to get the information for a VOIP adapter. Changed all of my contacts to my new number and now I have to worry about my account being cancelled due to inactivity? Yes or no? I don't want to ever loose my new number.

If you have paid for the config file (unlock key) or you have ported your number, then they will NOT cancel your service. The bit mentioned above just refers to people who have signed up for a free account and used the softphone only - and then have not used it for 90 days.
If you have paid for the config file, you need not worry about your account being canceled.
