Unable to connect

Hi, 've been trying to get this phone service working, but I am unable to get it to work.
I am using a Cisco SPA 112 Analog Telephone Adapter, firmware 1.0.2 (006).
On freephoneline.ca, it says I'm connected
YOUR SIP STATUS
SIP Status: connected
SIP User Agent: Cisco/SPA122-1.0.2(006)
but I cannot make any phone calls. Line 1 is flashing repeatedly, is this supposed to happen? Am I supposed to connect the adapter directly to a phone jack or can I just plug it into a phone?

except for the time zone since I could not find it

Is there any steps I should take to fix this issue? I am very computer handicapped
